NBC host Megyn Kelly has spoken out about the firing of Matt Lauer, who was dismissed from his role as longtime Today show anchor after a sexual misconduct allegation was brought to light.

“This one does hit close to home,” Megyn told her viewers. “But when this happens what we don’t see is the pain on the faces of those who found the courage to come forward, and it’s a terrifying thing to do.

“We are in the middle of a sea change in this country. An empowerment revolution. s painful as this moment is for so many here at NBC today, at CBS [with Charlie Rose] earlier this month, at Fox News over the last year, in Hollywood this fall, it is a sign of progress. Of women finding their voices, their courage and of the erosion of a shameful power imbalance that has been in place for far too long,” Megyn continued.

In my experience, a news organization is bigger than any one person. They all face challenges, they all stumble. But the good ones stay standing and forge forward, fulfilling their core mission: Journalism,” she added.

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb were the ones who broke the news to the Today show audience with an emotional message.

Al Roker, meanwhile, said he was “trying to process” the news about his friend of over 30 years.

Lauer had been a member of the Today show since 1997.

The Today show hosts put on quite the show for Halloween in New York City today (October 31)!

The hosts decided to put on a big country concert with Hoda Kotb as Blake Shelton (the real Blake made an appearance too!), Kathie Lee Gifford as Miley Cyrus, Carson Daly as Billy Ray Cyrus (who also made an appearance on the show), Al Roker as Willie Nelson, Savannah Guthrie as Kenny Rogers, Matt Lauer as Dolly Parton, and Megyn Kelly as Shania Twain.

Jane Fonda is reacting to Megyn Kelly‘s questions about plastic surgery.

Following the interview on Wednesday morning (September 27), the screen legend and Our Souls at Night co-star Robert Redford visited ET Canada, where she was asked about the awkward exchange earlier that morning.

When asked if she found Megyn‘s question about plastic surgery shocking, Jane said: “A little bit. Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up, whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not. I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.”

Robert was also asked about the exchange: “I think Jane didn’t want to go there,” he said.

“I think she didn’t want to have the show turn into about her, her surgery or her look. It was about the quality of the performance…I wasn’t paying a lot of attention,” he added lightheartedly.

Megyn Kelly tried to ask Jane Fonda about plastic surgery during a Today show interview on Wednesday (September 27), and she quickly shut her down.

“You, you’ve been an example to everyone, on how to age beautifully and with strength. And unapologetically,” Megyn said. “You admit you had work done. I think it’s to your credit. You look amazing. I read you felt you’re not proud to admit you had work done, why not?’

“We really want to talk about that now?” Jane responded.

“Well, one of the things people think about when they look at you, is how amazing you look,” Megyn answered.

“Thanks. Good attitude. Good posture. Take care of myself,” Jane responded, then masterfully changed the subject: “Let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, Our Souls at Night, rather than plastic surgery.”

The awkward interaction came just one day after Debra Messing admitted she regretted going on Megyn‘s show.

Debra Messing is speaking out to express how she regrets appearing on Megyn Kelly Today this week to promote her series Will & Grace.

The Emmy-winning actress appeared on the former Fox News host’s first episode of her NBC morning program alongside the full cast of Will & Grace.

During the interview, Megyn brought a Will & Grace superfan on stage and asked him if he’s gay because of his love for Eric McCormack‘s character Will.

When a fan asked Debra on Instagram why she would appear on the show, she replied, “Honestly I didn’t know it was [Megyn Kelly] until that morning. The itinerary just said Today Show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments.”

Megyn Kelly is being criticized for her first episode of Megyn Kelly Today in which she interviewed the cast of Will & Grace.

During the interview, Megyn invited one of the show’s superfans on stage and asked him, “Is it true that you became a lawyer, and became gay, because of Will?”

The fan responded, “I look at Will Truman, I’m like, ‘He has it made’: lawyer, best apartment in New York City, and gay? Come on, trifecta.”

Megyn then gave the fan named Russel Turner a trip for two to Los Angeles to attend a live taping of the sitcom. “I think the Will & Grace thing and the gay thing is going to work out great!” she said.

Fans on Twitter have pointed out that the moment was very awkward.

The 46-year-old former Fox News anchor speaks candidly about her decision to leave Fox after cable news primetime coverage became politically focused and “felt like a snake pit.”

“I didn’t want to be in the snake pit, I just wanted to cover the news,” Megyn added. “But it has a way of pulling you in over and over and over and then it becomes your life. It wasn’t the life I wanted.”

Also during the episode, Ellen asks if Kelly would have Donald Trump on her new hour of the Today show. “Definitely. I would not say ‘no’ to the sitting president of the United States. Would you?” Kelly asked.
