Will Connie Britton Return for ‘9-1-1’ Season 2? Ryan Murphy Speaks Out!

Ryan Murphy is addressing Connie Britton‘s character’s fate on 9-1-1!

The series creator spoke out in an interview published on Wednesday (March 21), ahead of the season finale of the show’s first season, about Connie‘s involvement.

As previously reported, the actress only signed on to do the show for one year.

“We’re in the process of renegotiating her deal so she can come in and do a couple of episodes to keep her character alive. She really loves the cast and crew and she’s very hopeful that that can happen. And, in the interim, we will be casting other parts in that call center. We’re going after big names,” Ryan said.

As for whether the show’s first season finale will address her forthcoming scaled-back appearance? “Not really,” he revealed.

“Again, Connie and I are talking and she’s optimistic [that Abby will be back] in some capacity. I think the days of actors signing seven-year contracts and then not being able to do anything but that one particular show are over. Sarah Paulson was a regular on two shows of mine at once, and she went and did two movies in between. Actors have much more power and maneuverability than they had before. And I think that’s a good thing.”

The season finale airs on Wednesday night (March 21) on FOX at 9 PM EST.

Ryan Murphy's '911' Renewed for Season 2!

911 is coming back for another season!

The Ryan Murphy-produced Fox series was given an early second season renewal after airing only two episodes of its first season as of Tuesday (January 16), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which co-stars Peter Krause, Connie Britton and Angela Bassett, follows the work and home lives of emergency responders.

The series premiere episode that debuted earlier in January bested the return of The X-Files, and ranked as the highest-rated Big Four premiere in three months.

“With a bold concept, award-winning stars and a flawless execution, Ryan, Brad [Falchuk] and Tim [Minear] have done it again. They have tapped into the cultural zeitgeist and reimagined the procedural as only they could, bringing it to life with a dream team of actors led by Angela, Peter and Connie. This is storytelling at its best and we’re so pleased that it’s resonated with our audience. We’d like to thank everyone involved with this production for their stellar work, and we look forward to another thrilling season of 911,” Fox execs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said.

Mindy Kaling, Pete Davidson, & More Celebs Remember 9/11 Attacks 15 Years Later

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the devastating 9/11 attacks that took 2,996 lives.

Celebrities, many of whom lived in New York City at the time, took to social media to remember those who lost their lives that Tuesday.

Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davison sadly lost his father, who was one of the brave firefighters.

“Can’t believe tomorrow is going to be 15 years. Missing the legend !!! Thank u all for ur kind words and support as always #werememberthem,” he wrote on Instagram.

Mindy Kaling wrote on Instagram, “I moved to New York City after college in August of 2001. I knew it was the greatest city in the world, the way all of us do who don’t come from there, implicitly but vaguely. A month later I would experience why. The way New Yorkers came together after the Towers were attacked was a wonder of the world. When the worst thing in humanity happened, it brought the very best in the people of New York. I remember it so vividly, as a scared unemployed aspiring playwright who spent the days walking around New York trying to get a job babysitting or waitressing. I love you New York. I love you New Yorkers. I will never forget. This beautiful cover is by Art Spiegelman.”
