Super producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins has reunited with Britney Spears for her new album for the first time in seven years. (They’re both pictured here to the left in January 2000.)

As late as four weeks ago, Britney and Jerkins were in the studio producing some tracks for Brit’s as-yet-untitled sixth studio album, which is scheduled for an early 2009 release.

Says Jerkins, “I’m trying to reinvent her and myself. [The new sound is] very dancey, really uptempo, in the clubs, real aggressive, and catchy.”

After Brit-Brit’s unforgettable performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, MTV isn’t ruling her out for 2008!

“Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?”, said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group said during a recent interview. “I’m not sure how we top Britney opening the show. We are working on it every minute of every day.”

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards airs live this year on Sept. 7 from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles.

Brit-Brit, 26, celebrated the court’s ruling to allow her overnight visitation rights with her sons Jayden James and Sean Preston. Sean is now 2 1/2 and Jayden is 20 months. Britney lost the right to have her children overnight since her hospitalization on Jan. 3rd of this year.

Britney and ex-husband Kevin Federline are due in court on July 15th to further discuss the situation.

Auntie Britney Spears and her father, Jamie, return home to Los Angeles on Friday after a three-day stay in Louisiana. It’s back to work for our little Brit Brit! (She’s been in the studio working on her sixth album.)

Brit spent quality sister-sister time with Jamie Lynn and welcomed her niece Maddie Briann.

Jamie Lynn broke the news of her pregnancy back in December with OK! Magazine. She most likely made a deal with the mag to also sell them Maddie’s first public baby pictures. Can’t wait to see what the mother-daughter photo spread looks like!!

Britney Spears rolls out of bed and catches an early morning flight out of LAX airport in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old pop princess was accompanied by one of People magazine’s hottest bachelors, her older brother Bryan (yes, the one in the hat and glasses).

Her father, Jamie Spears, also came along for the ride. A hearing to determine if he would remain daughter Britney’s conservator was delayed yesterday because the Spears family is apparently going on vacation. Also yesterday, an L.A. court commissioner agreed to allow Jamie to sell Brit’s Studio City home.

Britney Spears gets comfortable in her bikini at the Palms Place pool in Las Vegas on Friday.

The 26-year-old singer/actress was in Vegas to celebrate Father’s Day weekend with her dad, Jamie Spears. The mother-father duo attended the Cinevegas party with Palms hotel owner George Maloof and business associate Jon Gray.

Her ex-husband Kevin Federline was also in Vegas, first stopping off at the Strip House steakhouse and then the Prive club with his entourage.

Lynne Spears, mom of Britney and Jamie Lynn, will be releasing her personal memoirs this fall, the book’s publisher announced.

“Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World” will chronicle Lynne’s raising of her two daughters, Britney, 25, and Jamie Lynn, 16, and how she groomed her daughters into stars while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community.

“When Jamie Lynn got pregnant, it was put on hold,” a rep for publisher Thomas Nelson Inc. told People. “Lynne never stopped working on it because she wants to express her love for her children and tell their stories through a mother’s eyes.”

Based in Nashville, Tenn., Thomas Nelson Inc. also publishes Bibles, Christian fiction and nonfiction books and children’s books.

“[It] will not be a parenting book,” the rep added. “It’s [Lynne’s] story of what it was like being a mom and raising two very famous people. It’s a memoir.”

The book is due out in September.

Brit will not only be starring in the video, but she will be taking a director’s role as well! Ms. Spears‘ manager, Larry Rudolph commented, “The theme is her and her girlfriends are going to be looking all around London trying to find a boy who she met in a club. Every time they think they have him, it’s someone else!”
