Christian Bale Says His 'Big Short' Role 'Exceeds Anything' His Mind Will Ever Comprehend

Christian Bale shows off his well groomed goatee as he signs autographs after landing at LAX Airport on Tuesday (December 22) in Los Angeles.

“He’s a very brilliant individual who does things his own way. He isolates himself and has the best conversations with himself. I had a fascinating time studying a mind that exceeds anything my mind will ever comprehend,” Christian expressed (via StarTribune). “He reads numbers in the way you or I might read a novel. There’s an emotional connection to it.”

“For the film I just learned a couple of lines about it to try to show I’m not dumb,” Christian added. “As soon as I was done with it, I was happy to get that rubbish out the other ear and out of my brain.”

Christian Bale Thought That Teresa Palmer Was a Stripper

Christian Bale is opening up about how he mistakenly thought Teresa Palmer was an actual stripper on the set of their movie Knight of Cups.

“We were filming in a strip club, and Teresa Palmer’s there in her little silver hotpants and I’m asking her how long she’d been dancing for? Does she enjoy it? What got her into it?” Christian told the Evening Standard. “I had no idea that she was an actress until about a week after working with her. Suddenly I saw a billboard with her face on it and I went ‘What?’”

We can’t wait to hear what Teresa‘s side of the story sounds like!

Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, & Christian Bale Cover 'THR'

Ryan Gosling teams up with The Big Short co-stars Steve Carell and Christian Bale for the latest cover of THR.

Here’s what the actors had to say about meeting their real-life counterparts:

Ryan: “The character I play is loosely based on a real person [Greg Lippmann], but he’s also the narrator of the film and the tour guide through this world. It was a challenge because I’m trying to play him but at the same time have one foot outside of the movie and be almost like a talk show host or something. I wouldn’t want someone to play me, unless it was Steve.”

Steve: “I met with [Steve Eisman]. We had breakfast. I read up on him. He said he had better hair. That was his one comment. He was very, very proud of his hair. He said, ‘My wife married me because of my hair.’”

Christian: “Michael [Burry] came to visit the set a number of times. And he’s a fascinating individual. We just talked for, it was like eight or nine hours straight. I became very fond of him. I love playing real characters because you create a mannerism, and the director might question that, but you’ve got the evidence. You can just call him over and chat with him for a little bit and go, ‘See, right?’”
