Here's When 'Friends' Reunion Might Air on HBO Max

The Friends reunion was postponed indefinitely when the Coronavirus pandemic hit America, and the stars of the show – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer – were unable to come together to tape the special as planned.

HBO Max is launching on May 27 and the Friends reunion was supposed to air at that time.

Now, Friends producer and director Kevin Bright went on Maria Menounos’ daytime show Better Together and revealed when the special may air.

“We’re just waiting. We’re waiting for a window. We feel the reunion needs to be done in front of an audience. We can’t not share it after all this time. So, uh, tentatively speaking, we’re hoping that the special will be completed by Thanksgiving. And, uh, that the show will be seen on HBOMax at that time,” Kevin said.

'Friends' Reunion Special Could Tape at End of Summer

The Friends reunion special, which was delayed indefinitely due to the Coronavirus pandemic, could film at the end of the summer, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt said.

The reunion was supposed to be available on HBO Max on May 27, when the streaming service plans to launch.

“At first we thought, shows will be delayed for a month or two at the most, and now it seems like it’s going to be far longer than that,” Greenblatt said (via Variety). “We’re holding out for being able to get this special done hopefully by the end of the summer, if the stars align and hopefully we can get back into production. We do think there’s a value to having a big, raucous live audience to experience these six great friends coming back together and we didn’t want to just suddenly do it on a web call with, you know, six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms.”

He added that if stay-at-home orders continue much longer, they could explore a virtual route.

“But at the moment, we’re trying to look to the future and get this thing done in a more conventional way, and I think it’s worth waiting for,” he added. “We would have loved to have had it on [HBO Max on] Day One, but at the same time, if we can get it launched in the fall, I think it’ll be something that we can have the audience really looking forward to as well.”

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are all set to return for the event!

During the appearance, Courteney and Jimmy pulled out a surprise for mother-daughter healthcare workers Uchenna and Ona who came from Nebraska to New York to help in the health crisis.

“We know you’re busy saving lives but we also heard that you had never experienced New York pizza, is that right?” Courteney asked. Jimmy revealed that he ordered 100 pizzas from F&F pizzeria in Brooklyn to treat Uchenna, Ona and the entire nursing staff.

“Now, on the pizza you will see, in pepperoni, we’ve written ‘10K.’ That’s because our friends at Mary Kay wanted to thank you for your work and your courage, so they’re giving you each $10,000 to spend however you like and they’re also sending Mary Kay skincare gift boxes and hand sanitizers to the other hardworking nurses there with you,” Jimmy added.

The two tearfully thanked Courteney and Jimmy, and even fit in a hilarious Friends reference: “Thank you, Monica!”

It was recently revealed that Courteney is quarantining separately from her longtime love.

Courteney Cox Is Quarantining Separately From Johnny McDaid: 'It's Been Hard'

Courteney Cox and her longtime love, musician Johnny McDaid, have been forced to quarantine separately, and it has been hard on her to be separated for this long.

“He was supposed to go to Switzerland to write and instead, he had to [go to] England first and then, all of a sudden, [quarantine] happened,” she told Ellen DeGeneres. “I have not seen him in so long and you don’t realize, we spend a lot of time on FaceTime, but now, it’s like, Oh, my God, I just miss, you know, his physical touch. Just all of it. It’s been hard, really. This is the longest time.”

Courteney had to clarify her relationship status a few years back after rumors swirled about them. They were last seen out together in March.

Courteney Cox Says These Were Her Favorite Episodes of 'Friends'

Courteney Cox is revealing her favorite things about Friends in a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

“It’s really good, turns out,” Courteney joked while talking about how she’s still binge watching the show for the first time. “The Thanksgiving episodes are my favorite. I’ve only seen the first season so far, but the Thanksgiving one where we all had the flashback [is my favorite].”

She added that after watching that particular episode, she remembered that playing the overweight Monica was one of her favorite things about the series.

“I loved playing overweight Monica because I felt so free,” Courteney says. “I could dance…like you [Ellen] and just sit up and dance and have no problem at all. Those are really good episodes.”

Courteney first revealed she was binge watching the series and even took a quiz about it with Jimmy Kimmel‘s cousin.
