Viola Davis gets support from former co-stars Meryl Streep and Jessica Chastain while being recognized at the 2023 Chaplin Award Gala honoring Viola Davis at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on Monday (April 24) in New York City.

The 57-year-old Women King actress received the prestigious award as a tribute to her many successes in the industry. She stunned in a strapless black dress with gold fringe and received support from husband Julius Tennon.

Meryl opted for a black pantsuit, and Jessica dazzled in a sequined dress with a bold pattern and plunging neckline.

In the video, a fan approaches the 46-year-old actress outside of the stage door, asking her to sign a copy of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

Halle Berry took over for Will Smith at the 2023 Oscars.

Typically, the previous year’s award acting winner returns to the Oscars to present the opposite category – Best Actor for Best Actress, and so on. However, since Will has been banned from the awards, Halle stepped in and took over.

Joining Jessica Chastain on stage, the two former Best Actress winners presented both the Best Actor and Best Actress together.

“It’s gonna be a moment when I walk out with her. It’s gonna be a moment,” Halle shared with ET ahead of the ceremony, before talking about what would happen if Michelle Yeoh won.

Michelle did indeed win, becoming the first Asian to win the Best Actress category, much like Halle has been the only Black woman to win the honor as well.

“And if she does, I get to give her that,” Halle shared. “If I do, I’ll be a bigger mess than she is. Watch for it.”

Jessica Chastain is being praised for wearing a mask inside the theater at the Oscars!

The Oscar-winning actress appeared to be one of the only guests masked up while seated at the 2023 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 12) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Jessica Chastain has opening on Broadway in her second show!

The Oscar-winning actress hit the red carpet at the opening night performance of her play A Doll’s House on Thursday (March 9) at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.

Jessica was joined on the carpet by her co-stars Arian Moayed and Okieriete Onaodowan, as well as director Jamie Lloyd and playwright Amy Herzog, who adapted the classic play.

The show is getting great reviews and Jessica‘s notices are glowing. The New York Times writes that she tells Nora’s story “beautifully.” The Hollywood Reporter says “watching her break and slowly rebuild herself with steely resolve once the soul-deadening reality of her marriage is exposed is thrilling.” The Guardian says she “is captivating as Nora, providing a robust understanding of Nora’s inner life beyond the cruelty she suffers.”

The play is running now through June 10.
