Johnny Depp Could Face Jail Time For Not Properly Quarantining His Dogs in Australia

Johnny Depp and his dogs were a subject of discussion at the Senate committee hearing in Canberra, Australia on Monday (May 25).

Earlier in the month, it was discovered that the 51-year-old actor had not properly quarantined his dogs, Boo and Pistol, upon entering the country. As such, Johnny was forced to send them back or they would have been euthanized.

The committee discussed a possible jail sentence and fine for the actor after the incident. He could face up to 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of $340,000, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Johnny has been in town to film the latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Johnny Depp's Dogs Could Be Killed If They Aren't Sent Back to the US

Johnny Depp‘s dogs, Boo and Pistol, could face a death sentence if they aren’t taken back to the United States from Australia.

Australia’s agriculture minister Barnaby Joyce issued a statement telling the 51-year-old actor his dogs need to “bugger off” ASAP or face consequences.

“I personally as a minister don’t have Mr. Depp‘s phone number, nor does he have mine,” he told the BBC. “But my department is informed they are organizing for the dogs to be sent back to the United States. I’d say that is the wisest move.”

“If we start letting movie stars even though they’ve been the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ twice to come into our nation, then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody. It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States,” he continued. “The dogs have been ordered into quarantine and the owners have been advised the dogs must be exported within 72 hours.”

The dogs were discovered in the country by a grooming website. Dogs are required to be quarantined a minimum of 10 days after arriving in the country to prevent spread of possible disease. Mr. Joyce said if the dogs are not taken out of the country, they will be put down.

Johnny Depp's 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Production Halted After His Injury

Johnny Depp‘s Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has reportedly been delayed even more due to his hand injury.

The 51-year-old actor injured his hand earlier in the month in Australia and was rushed back to the USA for surgery. The injury did not happen during filming and was said to minimally impact filming.

New reports have emerged that say 200 crew members were told they would not resume filming until mid-April, Variety reports. Filming did continue on scenes without Johnny after he was taken back to the US on March 10. No word if this will effect the film’s previously announced July 7, 2017 release date.
