Three rising stars have landed onto the short list of actresses testing for the female lead in Star Wars: Episode VIII – Tatiana Maslany, Gina Rodriguez, and Olivia Cooke.
All three are women that we love and we’d be happy to see any of them land this major role! The casting process is still underway and more ladies will be auditioned by director Rian Johnson, according to TheWrap.
Tatiana (the Emmy nominated star of Orphan Black), Gina (the Golden Globe winning star of Jane the Virgin), and Olivia (the star of Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl) will all chemistry-read with The Force Awakens star John Boyega this month, according to the report.
Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on May 26, 2017 and Benicio del Toro is rumored to play the villain in the film.
