Sarah Jessica Parker is ending her relationship with Mylan, the company that manufactures EpiPen, a life-saving medication for those with severe anaphylaxis.
Each individual EpiPen now costs $500 for one injector. The drug apparently cost just $57 in 2007, according to Bloomberg News. The price has continuously gone up over the years.
“I’m left disappointed, saddened and deeply concerned by Mylan’s actions. I do not condone this decision and I have ended my relationship with Mylan as a direct result of it,” Sarah Jessica wrote on Instagram. Her son, James Wilke, has a severe peanut allergy, and SJP had partnered with Mylan for a campaign earlier this year. “I hope they will seriously consider the outpouring of voices of those millions of people who are dependent on the device, and take swift action to lower the cost to be more affordable for whom it is a life-saving necessity.”
