“The hardest for me is the kids. That’s the hardest for me. I think as women
especially we’re trained, Alicia and I were talking earlier, to take it all on and you can deal with it and you’re fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about.”

Kelly Clarkson Awarded Primary Custody of Kids in Brandon Blackstock Divorce As 'Level of Conflict Between Them Increases'

Kelly Clarkson has been awarded primary custody of her children with her estranged husband Brandon Blackstock, River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4.

The couple are currently in the midst of their divorce proceedings.

“The Court finds that under the circumstances present in this case, the interest in providing stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of Petitioner having primary custody,” documents read (referring to Kelly), via People.

The document referenced some drama between the former married couple, adding that “the level of conflict between the parents has increased. The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.”

Kelly apparently will allow Brandon to visit the children at her home in the Los Angeles area.

There has been some other family drama, apart from the divorce, in the past few weeks.

Kelly filed for divorce in June of 2020. They married in 2013.

Kelly Clarkson Countersues Father-in-Law Narvel Blackstock Amid Divorce With Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson is hitting back.

The 38-year-old American Idol alum is now countersuing her former management company Starstruck, run by estranged husband Brandon Blackstock‘s father Narvel, according to legal docs obtained by People.

She is suing for allegedly violating the California Labor Code by “procuring, offering, promising, or attempting to procure employment or engagements” without being properly licensed.

According to the paperwork, Starstruck allegedly violated the Talent Agencies Act numerous times and ignored the legal “licensing requirements.” Therefore, all agreements should be “declared void and unenforceable,” including the verbal agreement requiring 15 percent commission on her gross earnings.

The management company filed a claim in Los Angeles Superior Court in September, claiming it’s owed $1.4 million in unpaid commissions, and that Kelly has not paid the full commission this year for her work on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show, and argued that she breached her verbal contract, negotiated by her attorney and business manager in 2007.

However, Starstruck attorney Bryan Freedman said to People that the countersuit “conveniently ignores the fact that Kelly had her own licensed talent agency [Creative Artists Agency] at all times.”

“While Starstruck Management Group provided talent management services on her behalf, it did so at all times that CAA was her agency of record. It is unfortunate that Kelly is again attempting to avoid paying commissions that are due and owing to Starstruck to try and achieve some perceived advantage in her ongoing custody and divorce proceedings.”

At the same time, Kelly is going through a divorce with Narvel‘s son, Brandon. Here’s what she’s said of their relationship over the years.

Kelly Clarkson Sued by Former Management Company Run by Ex-Husband's Father

Kelly Clarkson is facing a new lawsuit with some personal connections.

The American Idol superstar is being sued by longtime management company Starstruck Management Group, run by Narvel Blackstock, the father of Brandon Blackstock, who is Kelly‘s ex-husband, Variety reported Tuesday (September 29).

The management company filed the claim in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming it’s owed $1.4 million in unpaid commissions.

According to the complaint, Kelly has not paid the full commission this year for her work on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“The company has represented Clarkson for the last 13 years, and was paid a 15% commission on her gross earnings. The suit states that Clarkson has paid the firm $1.9 million this year, but owes another $1.4 million. The suit also claims that Clarkson will owe at least $5.4 million by the end of the year. It does not appear that Clarkson and Starstruck have a written management agreement. The suit alleges that the terms of the deal were verbally negotiated by Clarkson’s attorney and business manager in 2007, and that Clarkson confirmed the deal in a phone call. Since then, the firm has been paid regular commissions in accordance with the terms, according to the complaint,” Variety reports.

“Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar. By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like The Voice and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed,” the complaint reads.

The suit alleges a breach of oral contract, and seeks declaratory relief and an accounting.

Kelly Clarkson Addresses Her Divorce During Her Talk Show's Season Premiere

Kelly Clarkson is back in the studio for The Kelly Clarkson Show and she’s addressing the difficult year she’s had amid her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock.

The 38-year-old singer kicked off her monologue on Monday (September 21) by saying, “Let’s just get this out of the way. 2020 has been a dumpster fire. Yup just all the words that I can’t say on this show just piled together and it’s on fire. That’s really what it’s felt like.”

Kelly then talked about how 2020 brought about change in her personal life.

“Definitely didn’t see anything coming that came,” she said. “What I’m dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart. It involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids. Divorce is never easy. We’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing is to protect our children and their little hearts. So, I’m usually very open and I usually talk about everything. But in this case, I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally.”

She added, “But I probably won’t go too far into it, because I’m a mama bear and my kids come first. Although, I do love you all. But I am okay. Everybody keeps asking and I am. The answer is yes.”

Kelly also discussed how others can relate to her situation.

“It’s OK because it matters. It was something important,” she said. “I know a lot of you at home unfortunately have probably been through it, either as a kid or just as yourself in your own relationships. I feel you! And it is a bad connection to have with people.”

Kelly recently discussed the music she has been writing ever since her divorce.
