“We all have freedom of speech; we all have the right to say and do the things we want, and they’re doing it, so I applaud them for it,” Dwyane added. “I’m one of the guys who got on stage [with Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and LeBron James] at the ESPY awards [and gave] a call to action to athletes to stand up and use their voice, so it’s great to see athletes doing that.”

Last night (December 11), Dwayne suited up to celebrate his Michigan Avenue winter issue cover at a special event held in his honor at Siena Tavern in Chicago.

Dwyane Wade Talks Becoming a Bull, Fatherhood, & More

Dwyane Wade looks sharp on the cover of Michigan Avenue magazine’s Winter issue.

Here’s what the 34-year-old NBA star shared with the mag:

On what was appealing about becoming a Chicago Bull: “One thing I always said to myself and to my fans was that if I ever wanted or had to leave Miami for whatever reason, I wanted it to be [to return to] Chicago. How many times do you get the chance to have the career I had [there] and still live out a life-long dream of playing back in your hometown, where your vision of becoming a NBA player started? Even though my career has been amazing—I’ve had way more highs than I’ve had lows—this is to me a great opportunity to control my destiny and do what I want to do with my career.”

On the importance of fatherhood: “My appreciation’s always been there. I know how important my dad was in my life for sure, and I knew that I wanted to play a bigger role in my kids’ lives. I’ve always thought that’s one of the most important things I have to do in my life; when God allowed me to be a father of my boys, I knew that was my most important job—to help raise future leaders in this world, and hopefully we can succeed in our dream of doing that.”

On professional athletes protesting racial inequality by taking a knee during the national anthem: “I love the fact that athletes are using their platform—they’re using their voice and getting behind the things that they believe in. We all have freedom of speech; we all have the right to say and do the things we want, and they’re doing it, so I applaud them for it. I’m one of the guys who got on stage [with Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and LeBron James] at the ESPY Awards [and gave] a call to action to athletes to stand up and use their voice, so it’s great to see athletes doing that.”

VIDEO: Cristiano Ronaldo Does Soccer Tricks in His Underwear in Response to Dwyane Wade!

Cristiano Ronaldo has given us quite the Thanksgiving treat – a peek at him in just his underwear while doing soccer tricks in his bedroom!

The 31-year-old soccer player is seen waking up in bed and the covers magically lift off him. A soccer ball is then pushed into the air by a machine next to the bed and it lands perfectly on his lap so that he can start his tricks.

Cristiano does a bunch of maneuvers with the soccer ball in his room before kicking the ball outside onto the balcony and into a net.

“Open your eyes @dwyanewade this is how I wake up 🙈 #raiseit,” Cristiano captioned the video, which was made as a response to Dwyane Wade.

The basketball player made a video in which he wakes up in bed blindfolded and then throws a tiny basketball into a hoop on the wall behind him.

Dwyane Wade Mourns Murder of Cousin, Donald Trump Uses It for Campaign Moment

Dwyane Wade is currently mourning the murder of his cousin and Donald Trump used the tragedy as a campaign moment on Twitter.

The 34-year-old basketball star tweeted on Friday night (August 26) that his cousin was killed and it was revealed that she was shot dead while pushing her child in a stroller through a park in Chicago.

“My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough,” Dwyane tweeted.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, tweeted about the tragedy and misspelled Wade‘s first name in the process.

Dwayne Wade‘s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” he wrote.

UPDATE: The original tweet was deleted and replaced with one correctly spelling Dwyane‘s name:

NBA Players Lead Black Lives Matter Speech at ESPYs 2016 (Video)

Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James kick off the show with an important message at the 2016 ESPY Awards on Wednesday (July 13) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The four NBA players used the platform to reach out to other athletes and encourage them to speak up about the Black Lives Matter movement and use their influence to renounce violence.

“We stand here tonight accepting our role in uniting communities,” Chris said. “We stand before you as fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, uncles, and in my case, as an African-American man and the nephew of a police officer, who is one of the hundreds of thousands of great officers serving this country. But Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Laquan McDonald, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile — this is also our reality.”

“The racial profiling has to stop,” Dwayne added. “The shoot to kill mentality has to stop. Not seeing the value of black and brown bodies has to stop. But also, the retaliation has to stop. The endless gun violence in places like Chicago, Dallas, not to mention Orlando — it has to stop. Enough. Enough is enough.”

“We all feel frustrated and helpless by the violence. We do,” LeBron said. “Let’s use this moment as a call to action for all professional athletes to educate ourselves, explore these issues, speak up, use our influence and renounce all violence. And most importantly, go back to our communities and invest our time, our resources, help rebuild them, help strengthen them, help change them. We all have to do better.”
