'Killing Eve' Star Jodie Comer Talks More of Season Three & Says Villanelle Is 'Faced With A Lot of Stuff'

Villanelle (Jodie Comer) goes incognito as a delivery person in this still from the season three premiere of Killing Eve, which is back tonight, April 12.

Jodie spoke to EW about what fans could expect from the new season and what’s in store for Villanelle.

At the end of season two, Villanelle shot Eve (Sandra Oh) as she was walking away – however, Eve isn’t dead at all.

“[She's] trying to carry on with her life and trying to live a more normal life. It’s six months later. It wasn’t like in [season] 1 where we jumped into [season] 2 where we picked up from that moment. So time has passed and we see her trying to get on with things,” Jodie shared of the time jump and what’s going on with her character now.

She adds that “a big theme for Villanelle is her trying to gauge some sense of control. She is a very free spirit and she always seems to be under the thumb of this higher entity, whoever that may be. She’s really trying to shake that off — and she wants to be in charge of her own destiny in a way.”

“Her past definitely comes into play in a very, very big way,” Jodie continued. “I think it enables the audience to see her again in a different surrounding and kind of endearing and frightening. She’s faced with a lot of stuff.”

Jodie also spoke of the symbolism you’ll see of where Eve was shot and how it connects.

“It’s symbolic in a way that when Eve stabbed Villanelle in series 1, for Villanelle, Eve was a part of her in some way. She has this marking that was from her and was now a part of her,” she says. “…I think the biggest thing is that you’re faced with this constant reminder of your past and what it is that you’re dealing in the present. So I think it’s definitely symbolic.”

Killing Eve premieres TONIGHT, April 12 at 9/8c on BBC America.

In her interview with TVLine, the 27-year-old actress revealed that Villanelle is “kind of done being controlled.”

Jodie shared that “she’s having a complete identity crisis at this point and dealing with a lot of her own personal stuff…It felt right to give this character some more depth, and that’s something I was definitely craving to do.”

Matt Damon Sports Epic Mullet on 'Last Duel' Set

Matt Damon is sporting an epic mullet on the set of his new Ridley Scott movie The Last Duel on Monday (February 17) in Sarlat, France.

If you don’t know, Matt and his BFF Ben Affleck co-wrote the screenplay for the film. They are both set to star in the film as well alongside Jodie Comer (pictured in these photos) and Adam Driver.

According to Variety, the movie is an epic tale of betrayal and justice, told from three distinct points of view: two knights (Damon and Driver) whose bond is tested by treachery and a young woman (Comer) forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive.

The movie is expected in theaters in January of 2021.

It has been a while since we’ve seen photos of Matt Damon, and he certainly looks different in costume!
