“My daughter is so wonderful; I have so much fun hanging out with her,” he gushed.

“She’s our firstborn, and my family’s full of boys too — there’s three boys and one girl in my immediate family — and then a lot of my uncles and aunts have mostly boys too, so it’s a boy-heavy family. So we weren’t used to having a lot of young girls in the family, but my daughter is so funny and smart and she’s just got good verbal skills — she’s just fun to be around,” he went on to say.

“And I spend a lot of time with her and I enjoy her so much, so if you’re lucky, your daughter will be like mine and you guys will be best friends,” he added.

If you missed it, John was one of many calling for a stop on police budget increases.

John Legend, Lizzo, Taraji P. Henson & More Call For Stop on Police Budget Increases

Taraji P. Henson, John Legend and Lizzo have added their names to a letter calling for the stop on increases to police budgets, following the death of George Floyd and increase in social unrest from this past weekend.

Called an “open demand letter”, it urges state and local governments to take the money that would go towards increasing police budgets and use it towards improving health care, education, and more programs for black communities, according to Variety.

“Black communities are living in persistent fear of being killed by state authorities like police, immigration agents or even white vigilantes who are emboldened by state actors,” the letter reads. “According to the Urban Institute, in 1977, state and local governments spent $60 billion on police and corrections. In 2017, they spent $194 billion. A 220 percent increase. Despite continued profiling, harassment, terror and killing of Black communities, local and federal decision-makers continue to invest in the police, which leaves Black people vulnerable and our communities no safer.”

“Where could that money go?” it continues. “It could go towards building healthy communities, to the health of our elders and children, to neighborhood infrastructure, to education, to childcare, to support a vibrant Black future. The possibilities are endless.”

Others who have signed include Natalie Portman, Jane Fonda, ACLU executive director Anthony Romero, and more.

You can read the full letter HERE.

If you missed it, Lizzo spoke out about the systemic racism and how she is promising to speak out about injustice.
