Olivia Munn Opens Up About Brett Ratner Allegations & the #MeToo Movement

Olivia Munn is on the cover of Rogue‘s Issue N°9, which is available for pre-order now.

Here’s what the 37-year-old Six actress had to say…

On coming forward with sexual misconduct allegations against director Brett Ratner: “Initially, I didn’t publicly call [Brett] out. I wrote a book where I discussed him anonymously. A year later, he named himself and went on to lie about me. A few days after that, he was on the Howard Stern show publicly apologizing for lying, saying he was sorry. Yet, two years after that moment, he gets a $450 million dollar licensing deal with Warner Brothers.”

On taking a stand: “Where is the line? If you don’t draw a line in the sand and say, ‘I’m not gonna work with these people,’ then it’s going to continue. Those who are in power, the movie heads, the executives—why are you working with these people? I’m not saying that people can’t come back from their mistakes, but why is it that when certain people mess up, there’s a formula for redemption? They say they’re sorry, hide away for a little bit, come back, work with the very people they hurt, then resume their position in power, when the rest of us have to fall to the back of the line and work our way back up.”

On the #MeToo movement and coming forward: “One thing that’s important is that we continue to use social media to support people who speak out and show their outrage at abusers. There’s this societal stigma when it comes to [reporting] sexual harassment. Women are seen as liars, men as victims. The truth is that it just doesn’t work that way. To come forward is difficult.”

Olivia Munn Sends Message to Kelly Marie Tran After She Quits Instagram Due to Harassment

Olivia Munn is sending a message of support to Star WarsKelly Marie Tran, who deleted her Instagram account over harassment.

Olivia took to her Instagram Story to write, “As an Asian American actress myself, I am SO PROUD of Kelly Marie Tran for forging a path in Hollywood, which is extremely hard because it’s not a path that already exists for us. Not only did she find a way, but she found it all the way to STAR WARS!”

“She is ridiculously talented, brave and gorgeous,” Olivia continued. “I think it’s interesting how her character Rose Tico in #TheLastJedi allowed us to see how widespread the First Order’s venom has become, reaching out to the farthest points of the galaxy. And now today, Kelly is showing us how poisonous people can corrode so many things right here on Earth. I’m proud of Kelly for taking a stand and saying enough to that bullsh*t. But I hope that if she ever wants to come back to social media, she does, because she deserves to be here and we need more people like her putting good energy out in the world.”
