Director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her husband, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, arrive for the world premiere of her film, Back To Black, held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Monday (April 8) in London, England.
Also at the event that day were the film’s stars, Marisa Abela, who portrays the late Amy Winehouse in the film, as well as Jack O’Connell and Eddie Marsan.
Here’s the official synopsis: The extraordinary story of Amy Winehouse’s early rise to fame from her early days in Camden through the making of her groundbreaking album, Back to Black that catapulted Winehouse to global fame. Told through Amy’s eyes and inspired by her deeply personal lyrics, the film explores and embraces the many layers of the iconic artist and the tumultuous love story at the center of one of the most legendary albums of all time. Aaron, 33, recently responded to the backlash over the age gap between him and Sam, 57. If you don’t know, they met and fell in love after she directed him in the 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy.
They share two daughters: Wylda was born in 2010 and Romy was born in 2012. Sam and Aaron married in 2012.

Marisa Abela becomes Amy Winehouse in the first international teaser trailer for the forthcoming musical biopic Back to Black.
The trailer, which arrived on Thursday (January 11), captures some of the soaring highs and lows of Amy‘s career and her time in the public eye before her tragic death at the age of 27 in 2011.

The two actors braved the rain to shoot brand new scenes for the upcoming biopic, which will chronicle the short life of musician Amy Winehouse, who sadly died in 2011.
In the images, you can see Eddie, who plays Amy‘s father Mitch, and Marisa walking in the rainy weather, before Marisa switched up her look as Amy, where she spoke to cameras that were pointed around a home, as part of the movie.
Back to Black has Amy‘s family’s support.
In a statement, they shared that they are “thrilled that STUDIOCANAL, Focus Features and Monumental are making this movie celebrating our daughter Amy’s extraordinary music legacy and showcasing her talent in the way that it deserves.”
Since the announcement and reveal of Marisa playing the part, she has been seen with Eddie, as well as Lesley Manville filming for the movie around London many times.

Marisa Abela gets into character to play Amy Winehouse on the set of Back to Black on Wednesday (February 22) in London, England.
The 26-year-old actress filmed a scene alongside Lesley Manville, who is portraying Amy‘s maternal grandmother in the film. The cast also features Jack O’Connell as Amy‘s husband Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan as Amy‘s father. Sam Taylor-Johnson, who you may recognize as the director of Nowhere Boy (2009), Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), and more, is directing. Sam is also married to actor Aaron Taylor Johnson!
The first look at Marisa as Amy was released last month. Amy tragically passed away at the age of 27 back in 2011. Her cause of death was released a short time later. Our continued condolences to her family and loved ones.

The Industry actress was seen wearing one of Amy‘s eclectic outfits and smoking a cigarette while going for a stroll with Eddie Marsan, who plays her father Mitch.
The film also has the support of Amy‘s estate, which shared that they are “thrilled that STUDIOCANAL, Focus Features and Monumental are making this movie celebrating our daughter Amy’s extraordinary music legacy and showcasing her talent in the way that it deserves.”
