There are constantly cast shakeups happening at ABC’s General Hospital and we have the latest updates for you!

Some major updates were announced during the first two months of 2024 and we’re recapping everything that has happened lately.

After 60 years on the air, the daytime soap opera continues its tradition of passion, intrigue and adventure that has depicted the ongoing lives of the diverse and evolving citizens of the fictional town of Port Charles set in upstate New York.

Several stars have taken temporary leave of absences recently and there have been some major exits that were unexpected. Fans were also lucky to see the return of some fan-favorite actors!

Relationship drama often drives the plot of our favorite soap operas, and a happy ending isn’t always right around the corner.

Some characters find a fairytale love story, but it’s rarely without a few bumps along the road. After all, affairs, amnesia and so many other unexpected plot twists make it pretty hard for a relationship to go the distance.

There isn’t often quite as much drama in real life, but the set of a soap opera is actually a spot where romantic relationships are born between costars. While there aren’t as many wild plot twists, these love stories can be nearly as contentious as the ones we see onscreen.

And they aren’t all guaranteed to last.

We previously rounded up 15 soap opera couples who are dating in real life, including one that has been married for nearly 50 years!

However, we were able to find as many former couples who have broken up. Several actors have dated and even married multiple costars. Others made it decades before deciding to call things off.

The list also includes stars who divorced and called of engagements or simply broke things off. There’s also one iconic love triangle that started out as the plot of a popular soap opera before bleeding over into real life!

Steve Burton is back on General Hospital after a long absence and he’s responding to rumors that his stay is going to be a brief one.

The 53-year-old actor played Jason Morgan on the show from 1991 through 2012 and then again from 2017 until being let go from the show in 2021.

Steve was fired from the ABC soap opera series for failing to comply with the vaccine policy that was set in place in late 2021 amid the return to work during the pandemic. General Hospital just broke him back though and we learned in a recent episode where Jason has been all these years.

In the latest episode of his Daily Drama podcast, Steve responded to fan rumors that he’s leaving the show soon.

The 53-year-old actor played Jason on the show from 1991 through 2012 and then again from 2017 until being let go from the show in 2021. Steve was fired from the ABC soap opera series for failing to comply with the vaccine policy that was set in place in late 2021 amid the return to work during the pandemic.

In an episode that aired this week, Jason dished the details on where he’s been. The last time we saw him, he was being held in an underground tunnel that collapsed and leaving everyone to assume that he died.

The General Hospital family is mourning the death of actress Robyn Bernard.

Robyn found fame on the soap opera, where she played Terry Brock, in the mid-80s. She was on the show until 1990, appearing in nearly 150 episodes.

TMZ confirmed her passing with Riverside County Coroner, and they shared additional details.
