George Clooney Responds to 'ER' Co-Star's Claim That He Helped Blacklist Her

George Clooney is speaking out after his former ER co-star Vanessa Marquez accused him of helping blacklist her from the medical drama.

The actress took to Twitter this week after Clooney spoke out against Harvey Weinstein and then accused him of helping “blacklist me when I spoke up [about] harassment on ER.”

Here is what George said in a statement to E! News: “I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted. I take her at her word. I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show. I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to. The fact that I couldn’t affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn’t.”

George Clooney Speaks Out Against Harvey Weinstein Assault Allegations: 'It's Indefensible'

George Clooney is the latest star to release a statement about Harvey Weinstein, who was recently accused of decades of sexual harassment by multiple women.

The 56-year-old actor, who has been friends with Harvey for 20 years, explained that he had heard rumors of women sleeping with Harvey for roles but brushed it off as people trying to belittle the talent of the actresses.

“The part we’re hearing now about eight women being paid off, I didn’t hear anything about that and I don’t know anyone that did. That’s a whole other level and there’s no way you can reconcile that. There’s nothing to say except that it’s indefensible,” George said in a statement to Variety.

He added, “I’ve known Harvey for twenty years. We’ve had dinners, we’ve been on location together, we’ve had arguments. But I can tell you that I’ve never seen any of this behavior — ever.”

“Maybe that’s what good will come out of this: that not just in Hollywood, although Hollywood is now the focus, but in all of these cases the victims will feel that they will be listened to, and that they don’t need to be afraid,” George concluded.

George Clooney Explains the Problems with Hillary Clinton's Campaign, Slams Idea of 'Hollywood Elite'

George Clooney was very involved with Hillary Clinton‘s presidential campaign and even hosted a fundraiser for her. Now he’s opening up about what he thinks went wrong with her campaign and his thoughts on Trump‘s idea of the “Hollywood elite.”

The Oscar-winning actor admitted that Hillary “was incredibly qualified for the job. But being qualified for the job does not necessarily mean you’re the right person to be president.”

“She was more qualified than even her husband was when he was elected president, but she’s not as good at communicating things,” George added in his interview with The Daily Beast. “That’s simply true. When she got up and gave a speech, it didn’t soar. Now, that doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t have done a great job as president, and I supported her because by the time we did the fundraiser the primary was over at that point and it was time to get on with picking someone to move forward, and she was the right person to side with.”

“It was frustrating because I never saw her elevate her game. I never saw it. And I had a lot of liberal friends who were like, ‘She’s not good at this.’ And I see that, and I understand it. I also think, though, that if it was a guy it wouldn’t have been so polarizing. I think the fact that she’s a woman made it a much harder uphill battle,” he continued.

George was also asked about President Trump‘s war between “coastal elites” and Middle America.

“I laugh when I see him say ‘Hollywood elite.’ Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! F–k you!” he said.

George Clooney Opens Up About Life With Twins: 'I Cry More Than They Do!'

George Clooney is all about family right now!

The 56-year-old actor was spotted stopping by a private residence on Tuesday (September 19) in Toluca Lake, Calif.

When George was at the Toronto Film Fest earlier this month, he was eager to get back home to wife Amal and their twins Alexander and Ella.

“They’re back in L.A. right now, and their mom sent these pictures this morning…He’s twice the size she is. He’s a moose and she’s just this little tiny beautiful thing,” George told the Daily Mail.

He added, “I cry more than they do. I cry four times a day right now, because I’m so tired…All they want to do is eat, so I have nothing to give them except a bottle once in a while and they’re happy about that, but it’s mostly Amal for them at the moment. I don’t even really understand what’s going on.”
