Mark Wahlberg Explains Why He Wants to Be Pardoned, Says It's Not About Entitlement

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell zip around on a motorcycle while filming scenes for their latest venture together titled Daddy’s Home on Tuesday (December 16) in New Orleans, La.

The 43-year-old actor recently explained why he wants a pardon for his crime of beating up a man back in 1988.

“I think for most people, the initial reaction was, ‘Oh, well he is very successful now, so he just feels a sense of entitlement, he should get a pardon.’ And it wasn’t about that, the only reason why I felt even confident in asking, whether the answer was yes or no, is because of how much work I’ve done to give back and how much I’ve done to better myself and prevent kids from making the kinds of mistakes and working with inner city kids and at risk youth. That’s why I felt comfortable in asking,” Mark told Yahoo.

Mark added about the man, Johnny Trinh, forgiving him for his crime, “I can’t wait to thank him in person and give him a big hug, and being a devout Catholic, the only way to be forgiven is to forgive for him to come out all these years later and tell the truth.”

Mark Wahlberg Talks About Wearing a Prosthetic Penis (Video)

Mark Wahlberg suits up while out and about on Friday (December 12) in New York City.

The 43-year-old The Gambler actor made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers the night before and discussed what it was like wearing a prosthetic penis in his breakout movie, Boogie Nights.

“You have this weird guy putting it on you. You have to wear it all day. There’s not a way to go to the bathroom or anything like that. It was pretty weird,” Mark said. “But it’s actually the only prop I’ve ever kept from a movie. I didn’t think there would be that much interest in it but maybe I can at some point sell it at auction for charity.”

Mark also talked about the process of how they made the prosthetic.

“I have to stand there and take off my clothes and the start sculpting this thing around you. It’s very uncomfortable and very awkward. And the first time they did it they did the exact same specs, measurements, to what they thought John Holmes was like – for anybody who doesn’t know who John Holmes is, he’s a very famous porn star in the 70s – so this thing was like down past my knee. You’d sit down and the thing would bounce up. So the first one did not work, everybody thought it was ridiculous,” Mark said. “I had to come out to set and show everybody, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ Everybody’s, ‘Hey! Look at this thing! Come check this out, what do you think?’ Then they had to modify it a little bit, it was pretty embarrassing.”

FYI: Mark is wearing 7 For All Mankind jeans on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Recently, it was revealed that Mark has filed a request with the Massachusetts Board of Pardons to be pardoned from various crimes — including the 1988 incident where he beat a man until he had injuries so bad that he lost vision in one eye.

“I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took… as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the citizens,” he wrote in his application that was obtained by ABC News. “Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others.”

Mark continued saying: “I have not engaged in philanthropic efforts in order to make people forget about my past. To the contrary, I want people to remember my past so that I can serve as an example of how lives can be turned around and how people can be redeemed.”

He added, “Of course I show up eight hours late, by accident. I was in New York and there was a huge snowstorm, so I went to Puerto Rico for the weekend with my entourage. Coming home, my flight gets canceled, I show up late, [Leo]’s sitting there, pissed.”
