Nikki Reed poses beside just a little pile of the trash she helped clean up at the beach on Saturday morning (July 18) in Santa Monica, Calif.
The 27-year-old actress teamed up with Barefoot Wine, the Surfrider Foundation, and over 100 volunteers for the annual Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.
“Barefoot knows that I use my voice a lot for environmental causes,” Nikki shared at the event. “This just seemed like a really natural partnership between us – my uncle and aunt, who live in Kauai, actually started their own little beach clean-up that my brother and I took part in as children. Just going down to the beach in the morning and putting trash items in your bag and walking home doesn’t take any more time.”
Nikki and all of the volunteers who helped cleaned over 250 pounds of trash from the sand!
Barefoot Wine will be hosting beach clean-ups across the country this summer and you can support the cause by simply picking up trash you see around your own beaches and posting a photo to social media using the hashtag #BeachRescue.
Barefoot Wine will donate an additional $5 to the Surfrider Foundation, up to $50,000, for each post.
