Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron arrive at The Paperboy premiere during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 23) at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

Co-stars Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Macy Gray, David Oyelowo, as well as the film’s director, Lee Daniels, also walked the red carpet after attending a photo call earlier in the day.

“I had the most lovely time in the world [working with Nicole]. I was ecstatic the day I found out she was playing the part,” Zac told reporters.

“I have been in love with her for a long time, since Moulin Rouge,” he added. “It was the best opportunity in the world for me and I loved every moment.”

FYI: Nicole wore a dress and clutch both by Lanvin, Casadei heels and vintage Cartier jewels. Zac suited up in Dolce&Gabbana.

Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron are ready for their close ups at The Paperboy photo call during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival held at Palais des Festivals on Thursday (May 24) in Cannes, France.

The two stars of the flick were joined by their fellow cast mates Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, and director Lee Daniels. Singer Macy Gray was also in attendance!

“I had seen Precious and I thought it was amazing and I wanted to work with him,” Nicole told the AFP about wanting to work with Lee. She added that she was looking for “something raw and more dangerous” when the script came along.

The Paperboy co-stars, along with fellow cast mate Matthew McConaughey, promoted their new movie, which will be screened during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

The flick centers around a reporter who returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate.

“I think that it’s a thriller that studies sex and race and the coming of age of a boy to manhood. Pete Dexter adapted his own novel, something that novelists aren’t always comfortable doing,” director Lee Daniels recently told THR.

FYI: Nicole wore a L’Wren Scott dress with a vintage Omega watch and her own earrings and bracelets.

Zac Efron watches the L.A. Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center on Tuesday (May 1) in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old actor sat courtside near Ashton Kutcher for Game 2 of the NBA Playoff series, which the Lakers won 104-100.

Ashton is reportedly in talks to return to Two and a Half Men for another season and possibly two more.

“But the offers provide no raises from what the stars [Ashton and Jon Cryer] currently make, and that’s shaping up as a big problem for the reps for the actors,” sources tell THR.

Ashton is believed to be earning $700,000 per episode or about $15.4 million for a 22-episode season.
