Gal Gadot‘s portrayal of Wonder Woman made her the leading lady of the DCEU, but she faced some stiff competition to book the part.
The actress joined the franchise alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill and was lauded as one of the brightest lights for her portrayal of Diana Prince in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Since then, Gal has yielded the Lasso of Truth and Diana’s iconic gauntlets against villains in multiple projects, including two solo movies. There have been ongoing questions about her future in the franchise, which will reset with the release of Superman.
A new star has been cast to bring Supergirl to life, adding to questions about the status of Wonder Woman.
While she’s synonymous with the character now, Gal had to audition for it alongside several other stars. In fact, we can say for a fact that she faced off against at least three actresses to land the part.
Of them, two opened up about their experience auditioning. One of them even explained why they knew that they “never” had a chance to land it.

Melissa Benoist is sharing her thoughts on the DC Universe‘s new Supergirl, Milly Alcock!
In case you weren’t aware, Melissa played the character, also known as Kara Zor-El, in the CW’s Supergirl series. The show ran from 2015 to 2021.
Milly will lead the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and is expected to appear in James Gunn‘s Superman movie starring David Corenswet.

DC‘s upcoming Superman movie has just added a new cast member!
The James Gunn-directed film was formerly known as Superman: Legacy, and has already begun production. David Corenswet will play the titular hero aka Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult will play the villainous Lex Luthor.
On Friday (March 1), Wendell Pierce was revealed as the newest actor to join the cast of Superman!

The DC head took to social media on Thursday (February 29) to reveal that the movie, which stars David Corenswet as the iconic hero, had begun filming on a meaningful day.
He confirmed that it officially had a new name and offered a first glimpse at Superman’s costume.
