Mahershala Ali & Wife Amatus Couple Up for Oscars 2018

Mahershala Ali hit the 2018 Academy Awards red carpet with his wife Amatus Sami-Karim!

The 44-year-old actor, who won Best Supporting Actor last year for Moonlight, stepped out for the big night at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood.

Mahershala suited up in a dark emerald velvet jacket, while Amatus looked absolutely gorgeous in a light gold gown adorned with colorful birds, finishing off her look with a bright red clutch and lipstick.

The duo welcomed their first child, a daughter named Bari, back in February 2017, just two days before the 2017 Academy Awards.

Mahershala will present tonight’s award for Best Supporting Actress.

FYI: Mahershala is wearing a full Berluti look. Amatus is wearing a Yumi Katsura gown.

Oscars 2018 - First Round of Presenters Announced!

The first round of presenters for the 2018 Oscars have been revealed!

The ceremony will be broadcasted live on March 4 on ABC, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

On Friday (February 16), producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd revealed the first round of presenters: Mahershala Ali, Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Laura Dern, Jennifer Garner, Tiffany Haddish, Greta Gerwig, Tom Holland, Kumail Nanjiani, Margot Robbie, Emma Stone and Daniela Vega.

“Whether returning to the Oscars stage or gracing it for the first time, each of these artists bring their own distinguishing and energetic appeal. Their contributions will make for an unforgettable evening,” the producers said.

Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Michelle Rodriguez, and Ed Skrein also star in the sci-fi film produced by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez.

'True Detective' Season 3 Starring Mahershala Ali Confirmed!

Mahershala Ali is officially set to star in the third season of True Detective on HBO!

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has written all but one of the episodes and he will serve as showrunner in addition to directing some of the episodes. Jeremy Saulnier will direct some episodes and David Milch has written the fourth episode.

The upcoming season will follow “a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods,” according to THR.

Mahershala, who won an Oscar this year for his work in Moonlight, will play “Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.”

“I’m tremendously thrilled to be working with artists at the level of Mahershala and Jeremy. I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we’re all very excited to tell this story,” Nic said in a statement.

It’s official – Mahershala Ali is heading to True Detective!

The 43-year-old Oscar-winning actor has signed on to star in the upcoming season three of the hit HBO series after weeks of speculation.

During the TCA summer press tour on Wednesday (July 26), showrunner Nic Pizzolatto reportedly announced that he is hard work writing scripts for the upcoming season.

“I have read five scripts for a third season,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys told reporters, according to the NY Daily News. “And I think they’re terrific.”

‘s starring role will follow a long line of A-listers who have joined the cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams.
