Dr. Luke Responds to Alleged Kesha Body-Shaming Emails

Dr. Luke‘s legal team has responded to alleged emails released by Kesha‘s team, in which he criticized her efforts to lose weight.

The emails filed with the court this week include a June 2012 exchange between Dr. Luke and Kesha‘s manager Monica Cornia, in which he allegedly wrote, “We were having a discussion on how she can be more disciplined with her diet. There have been many times we have all witnessed her breaking her diet plan,” according to the New York Post.

Dr. Luke‘s Lawyer, Christine Lepera, responded in a statement, “Kesha and her attorneys continue to mislead by refusing to disclose the larger record of evidence showing the bad faith of Kesha Sebert and her representatives which is greatly damaging to them. It also shows the tremendous support that Dr. Luke provided Kesha regarding artistic and personal issues, including Kesha‘s own concerns over her weight.”

The statement continues, “Rather than agree to a thorough disclosure, Kesha and her representatives improperly publicized, without Court permission, three out-of-context emails which do not present the full picture regarding the events they concern. For example, these emails do not show that the lyrics of ‘Crazy Kids’ were, in fact, rewritten at Kesha‘s request. Any claim by Kesha to the contrary is deceiving the public-just like her other meritless claims of wrongdoing by Dr. Luke.

Kesha Speaks Out Against Cyber Bullying in PSA - Watch It

Kesha is speaking out for an important cause.

The 29-year-old performer teamed up with Hack Harassment to take part in a new PSA against online harassment.

After reading several examples of actual online bullying in the PSA, Kesha urges people to “speak up” because “saying nothing says everything.”

“No one, regardless of their identity, background or beliefs, should be subjected to harassment online. I look forward to working with Hack Harassment and its partners to help raise awareness of this important issue in order to bring about more inclusive and safer online communities,” Kesha said of the partnership.

Kesha Asserts Dr Luke Owes Her Money, Won't Approve New Songs

Kesha and Dr. Luke have filed new court papers with New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich to amend previous claims after courts ruled that she would not be let out of her contract with her alleged abuser.

“You can get a divorce from an abusive spouse,” Kesha‘s legal team wrote in her new countersuit. “You can dissolve a partnership if the relationship becomes irreconcilable. The same opportunity—to be liberated from the physical, emotional, and financial bondage of a destructive relationship—should be available to a recording artist. After a February 19, 2016 preliminary injunction hearing, Kesha Rose Sebert is, for the time being, no longer forced to record in the same room with Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, the abusive music producer who has had her under contract for the past eleven years. But allowing Kesha to make music outside Dr. Luke’s presence does not free her from her abuser’s control.”

Regarding any new music, she added, “not one song has been approved, no release date has been set, and there has been no agreement on the critical issue of whether the album will be promoted commensurate with an artist of Kesha’s stature and historical success.”

Kesha also claims that Dr. Luke owes her money and finally paid her some of it.

“It was not until Kesha’s counsel recently threatened further legal action that Dr. Luke released certain funds owed to Kesha in December 2016, two years after they were due. Still, he has not paid her all of the amounts owed. Dr. Luke has similarly worked to deprive Kesha of royalties from ‘Timber,’ the multimillion-unit hit that she recorded and co-wrote with Pitbull. Until the issue was raised with the Court, Kesha had received none of the recording royalties or publishing royalties on ‘Timber’ she was owed,” the papers continued.

Kesha ultimately wants to be freed from her contract.

Kesha Breaks Down in New Interview About Dr. Luke, Says Having Her Music Taken Away is 'Pretty Devastating'

Kesha is once again opening up about her legal drama against producer Dr. Luke where she claimed that he sexually assaulted her while they worked together.

“When you work really hard at something, then to have it taken away from you is pretty devastating,” the 28-year-old artist told Noisey in a new interview while breaking down in tears.

Unfortunately in February, a judge denied Kesha‘s request to end her contract with Dr. Luke and Sony.

“I worked my ass off for a lot of years to be able to do it: I sang backup vocals and the first couple songs I was on, I didn’t give a f–k ‘cause I just had this one vision. Once you earn that and make that happen, then to have it taken away from you is pretty devastating. It is definitely a mind f–k.”

Back in August, Kesha decided to drop her sexual assault case against Dr. Luke in order to focus on her comeback in the music business.

Since then, Kesha has been back working in the studio and hopes to release new music soon.
