Mickey Rourke Reignites His 30-Year Feud with Robert De Niro

Mickey Rourke has been in a feud with Robert De Niro for over three decades and he just reignited it with a post on Instagram.

The last saga in the feud seems to have begun last year after Mickey claimed that Martin Scorsese wanted him to be in The Irishman, but then De Niro refused to work with him.

“The casting person told my manager that Robert De Niro said he refused to work with me in a movie,” Rourke said on an Italian talk show in September 2019. A Page Six article with the title “Robert De Niro: Mickey Rourke is lying about ‘The Irishman’ snub” was then published with a statement from De Niro‘s rep.

De Niro‘s rep said at the time, “According to The Irishman producers, Jane Rosenthal and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, and casting director Ellen Lewis, Mickey Rourke was never asked to be in The Irishman nor was he ever even thought of, discussed or considered to be in the movie.”

The feud started in 1987 on the set of the movie Angel Heart. Rourke said that he looked up to De Niro at the time, but he says the actor was not nice to him on set.

Well, now Mickey has released a new statement on Instagram in which he threatens to “embarrass” him the next time he sees him in person.

Robert De Niro Says His Finances Are Strained Due To Coronavirus

Robert De Niro is reportedly financially hurting because of the coronavirus pandemic.

During an emergency order hearing, it was revealed that his estranged wife Grace Hightower has asked for a raise in her credit limit on her monthly American Express card from $50,000 to $100,000 – however, the 76-year-old actor isn’t able to afford it.

Robert‘s lawyer says that the credit limit cut was because of a “huge financial hit as the restaurant chain Nobu and Greenwich Hotel, both of which he has stakes in, have been closed or partially closed for months with barely any business.”

Caroline Krauss explained to a judge that Nobu lost $3 million in April and another $1.87 million in May, and Robert has had to pay investors $500,000 on a capital call, which he borrowed money from his business partners to make, “because he doesn’t have the cash.”

“His accounts and business manager says that the best case for Mr. De Niro — if everything starts to turn around this year — he is going to be lucky if he makes $7.5 million this year,” she added.

Robert and Grace‘s prenuptial agreement says that as long as he’s making $15 million or more in income, and if his income declines, his payments to her proportionally do too.

However, Grace‘s lawyer, Kevin McDonough isn’t buying the excuse.

“Mr. De Niro has used the COVID pandemic, my words would be, to stick it to his wife financially,” he said. “I’m not a believer that a man who has an admitted worth of $500 million and makes $30 million a year, all of a sudden in March he needs to cut down [spousal support] by 50 percent and ban her from the house.”

The judge ultimately ruled that Robert should keep Grace’s credit card limit at $50,000 a month and pay her $75,000 so she can find a summer home for their two kids while he stays in his compound in upstate New York with his other children.

Grace and Robert announced they were separating back in 2018.

Cate Blanchett Boards James Gray's New Movie With Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro & More

Cate Blanchett has lined up another movie to star in alongside Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

Deadline reports that the three actors will join Oscar Isaac and Donald Sutherland in James Gray‘s followup movie to Ad Astra, called Armageddon Time.

The movie is described as “a big-hearted coming-of-age story that explores friendship and loyalty against the backdrop of an America poised to elect Ronald Reagan as president.”

James also says that it’s based on his childhood memories.

“Every film you make is different, but I’m trying to do something that is the opposite of the vast, lonely and dark void of the movie I just directed,” he shared. “I’m anxious to make something that is very much about people, about human emotions and interactions between people, and I want it to be filled with warmth and tenderness.”

James went on, “In some sense, yes it’s about my childhood, but an illustration of familial love really on every level. I’m of the belief that most people do their best and that they try their best under difficult circumstances and in some sense that’s a beautiful thing and very moving to me.”

Cate also lined up three other movies to star in while quarantining at home during the pandemic. Check them out here!
