George & Amal Clooney March Alongside Students at March For Our Lives in D.C.

George Clooney and Amal Clooney step out to march alongside the Parkland students at the March For Our Lives on Saturday (March 24) in Washington, D.C.

The married couple were among the first celebs to pledge a massive donation of $500,000 to help the student organizers plan the march.

Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School,” George said in a statement to announce the donation last month. “Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating 500,000 dollars to help pay for this groundbreaking event. Our children’s lives depend on it.”

George Clooney Writes Letter to the Parkland Students

George Clooney is voicing his support and approval of the work that the students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school are doing weeks after the tragic shooting that left 17 dead.

In an open letter published on Friday (March 23) on The Guardian, in a special edition guest-edited by students form the school, the actor wrote about how the students inspired him.

Amal and I stand behind you, in support of you, in gratitude to you. You make me proud of my country again,” he wrote.

The two recently announced a $500,000 donation to the student-organized March For Our Lives.

'Girls' Alum Christopher Abbott Set to Co-Star With George Clooney in 'Catch-22'

Christopher Abbott is joining the cast of Catch-22.

The 32-year-old actor, known for his role as Charlie in Girls, will co-star alongside George Clooney in the upcoming six-part limited series for Hulu, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Christopher will play the role of Yossarian, a man who is in constant struggle with the realities of serving in war and does what he needs to get by and stay alive. The role was originally played by Alan Arkin in the 1970 film adaptation.

George will take on the role of Col. Cathcart, who was originally played by Martin Balsam.

Oprah Winfrey is matching George and Amal Clooney‘s $500,000 donation to March For Our Lives.

Following the news of the power couple’s donation to the cause – which created after students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida were victims of a senseless act of violence when a shooter opened fire and killed 17 people – Oprah revealed she’s pitching in too.

George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard,” Oprah tweeted on Tuesday (February 20).

The power couple donated to the cause created after students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida were victims of a senseless act of violence when a shooter opened fire and killed 17 people.
