US Prosecutors Issue Formal Interview Request To Prince Andrew For Epstein Case; His Lawyers Respond

A formal interview request has been issued for Prince Andrew for his involvement regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case.

NBC News is reporting that the Department of Justice is wanting to speak to the 60-year-old Duke of York as part of their investigation into Epstein’s history of sexual abuse.

Andrew is known as a former associate of Epstein‘s and has been accused by one of Epstein’s accusers of having sex with her when she was 17 years old.

His lawyers, however, state that he has already cooperated with them in their investigation.

“Unfortunately, the DOJ has reacted to the first two offers by breaching their own confidentiality rules and claiming that the Duke has offered zero cooperation,” a statement from them reads. “In doing so, they are perhaps seeking publicity rather than accepting the assistance. We were given an unequivocal assurance that our discussions and the interview process would remain confidential.”

Previously, Prince Andrew has reportedly not been cooperating with the case at all. It’s also rumored that he’ll never return to royal duties.

Prince Andrew Might Never Return To Royal Duties, A New Report Suggests

There’s a good chance that Prince Andrew could stay out of the spotlight for good.

The 60-year-old Duke of York, who is the second son and third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, stepped out of the spotlight late last year after his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein came to light.

The Queen reportedly “can’t see a way back” for her “favorite” son and the royal family have “no plans” to review his position, The Sun is reporting.

The paper also reports that Andrew planned to step back in to public duties, however, those hopes have been dashed.

Andrew stepped back from public life following his BBC Interview last year, where he opened up about his friendship with Jeffrey. The interview was not received well at all, and opened up him and the royal family to more ridicule.

The FBI also claims that Andrew has not been cooperative with them in the case against Jeffrey.

Rebel Wilson Makes Prince Andrew Reference In Front of Prince William & Duchess Kate, Roasts 'Cats' at BAFTAs 2020

Rebel Wilson took the stage at the 2020 BAFTAs to present the best director award, and the audience got three minutes of amazing stand up comedy in the process.

Things started off a little awkward as Rebel made a Prince Andrew comment and then a Prince Harry comment. Prince Andrew has been linked to Jeffrey Epstein, while Prince Harry has been in the spotlight after parting ways with the royals.

“It is really great to be here at the Royal Andrew… uh, Royal Harry, no, at this Royal Palace place,” Rebel said.

Then, Rebel joked that she had recently been to a funeral for her film Cats.

Cats, strangely not nominated for any awards,” Rebel added before noting the lack of diversity in the nominations. “I’m not sure if everyone here is across the controversy, but this year there has been a distinct lack of nominations for felines. Even in this Best Director cat-egory, no felines have been nominated.”

Prince Andrew Is Reportedly Not Cooperating With FBI In Their Jeffrey Epstein Case

Prince Andrew has not been cooperative with federal prosecutors and the FBI in their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

The 59-year-old royal has not responded to any of the requests, according to U.S. attorney Geoffrey S. Berman, People is reporting.

During a news conference, the attorney claimed that there has been “zero cooperation” from Prince Andrew in the investigation, despite him saying that he was ready and able to help in his BBC interview late last year.

Prince Andrew was reportedly friends with Jeffery, who was arrested last summer on sex trafficking charges before dying by suicide while in federal custody.

After his BBC interview, Prince Andrew stepped back from his royal duties.

Prince Andrew has been kicked out of Buckingham Palace, according to new reports on Friday (November 22).

The 59-year-old British royal was told to clear out from his offices just days after announcing he was formally stepping away from official royal duties amid scandal for his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the Times of London reported.

Prince Andrew Steps Away From Royal Duties Amid Epstein Allegations

Prince Andrew has just announced that he is taking a break from royal duties amid allegations of his association with disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in prison months ago.

“It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support,” he said. “Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.”

The statement continued, “I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathize with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure. I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.”
