Here's Why Kerry Washington Gets Texts That Are Actually For Kanye West

Kerry Washington revealed that she often gets text messages that are actually meant for Kanye West and she explained why.

“We are friendly,” Kerry said during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “We have a lot of friends in common. We’re not really friends, but we have a lot of friends in common. And, actually, about once a year…I think a lot of people have us programmed in their phones as KW. So, I’ll get a text, like once a year where I’m like, ‘That is not for me.’”

Kerry actually was name checked in Kanye‘s 2018 song “All Mine.”

“If I pull up with a Kerry Washington / That’s gon’ be an enormous scandal,” Jimmy Kimmel read the lyrics aloud to Kerry. “Why does it sound so bad when I say it?”

“I woke up that morning and my phone was, like, vibrating,” she said of the day the song dropped. “I did not get a heads up.”

Kerry Washington Says Netflix Version of 'American Son' Honors The Play!

Kerry Washington paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (November 11) and opened up about making Broadway play American Son into a film for Netflix.

“We didn’t change a single word,” the 42-year-old actress told Jimmy. “We really honored the play but we did take some visual liberties. We show flashbacks and cut-away – it’s really beautifully directed by Kenny Leon.”

Kerry Washington also talked about recreating episodes of All in the Family and Good Times for ABC’s Emmy-winning special Live in Front of a Studio Audience.

“You know what’s amazing too? How, for better or for worse, how relevant these shows still are,” Kerry said. “Like still so funny, still so meaningful. It’s really amazing.”

The Live in Front of a Studio Audience special will air on Wednesday, December 18 on ABC!

FYI: Kerry is wearing an Ingie Paris jumpsuit on Jimmy Kimmel.

Kerry Washington Acted with Gwyneth Paltrow Back in School!

Kerry Washington steps out for an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which will air on Wednesday (November 6).

The 42-year-old Emmy-nominated actress, who chatted about her new movie American Son and her upcoming show Little Fires Everywhere, also opened up about going to school with Gwyneth Paltrow.

“In high school, a few years difference makes a big deal. I’m not trying to say that she’s older than me, but she’s a little bit older than me. She was a senior when I was in junior high school. Even back then she was ‘Gwyneth Paltrow,’” Kerry said.

Ellen asked if they ever acted together and Kerry revealed they did.

“We actually did one play together. She was the queen, of course, in A Midsummer’s Night Dream and I was one of the fairies. The middle schoolers were allowed to audition for the fairies. We had one amazing show together,” she said.

ABC to Produce Holiday Edition of 'Live in Front of a Studio Audience' Special!

ABC’s Emmy-winning special Live in Front of a Studio Audience is returning for a special holiday edition next month with an all-star cast recreating episodes of All in the Family and Good Times.

Norman Lear, Jimmy Kimmel, Will Ferrell, Justin Theroux, and Brent Miller are returning as executive producers on the project and Kerry Washington has joined the producing team as well. She appeared in The Jeffersons portion of the original special in the spring.

Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei starred as Archie and Edith Bunker in the original special, but ABC has not yet announced if they will be returning.

“Being a part of Norman Lear’s world was a career highlight; and working with great actors on these great shows was so much fun, we couldn’t resist tackling a holiday episode of All in the Family and one of my favorites, Good Times,” Jimmy said in a statement.

Norman added, “I don’t know which is greater – bringing back Good Times or co-hosting with Jimmy Kimmel?”

The Live in Front of a Studio Audience special will air on Wednesday, December 18 on ABC.
