The series received a straight-to-series order at Apple, and is based on the upcoming debut novel from author, science editor, and copywriter Bonnie Garmus.

Here’s a plot summary: “Set in the early 1960s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes, all the while craving a return to her true love: science.”

Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant is writing the series. The book is set to be published in Spring of 2022.

Brie also recently got candid about her appearance, and revealed she thought she was “ugly.”

During the interview, she spoke about her routine and self-care.

“I have started winding down once the sun starts to set. It’s also my cue to start cooking dinner, go into the garden – that’s how it starts. I’ve been burning frankincense in the house too, because it not only smells great, but it’s great for cleansing the air in the house; it’s anti-microbial. I’ve also been trying to watch a movie every night,” she explained.

“Sometimes I’ll do some breathing exercises, or I’ll meditate if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. For me, it’s about what can I do that is transitional out of work into decompressing time, because when you’re at home all day I feel it’s very easy to let everything stick and hang on to you. It’s about knowing what’s the routine and what’s the ritual to get out of that,” she continued.

She also discussed beauty.

“I don’t believe that there is a beauty standard. I struggled with feeling ugly and like an outcast for so much of my life. And so I really, really feel for that. It took me a long time to be able to be totally comfortable with myself,” she went on to say.

“The thing that has brought me solace is knowing that I can be whoever I want to be with myself. What breaks my heart is to think of people in the world who don’t feel that they have safety within their own bodies. That, to me, is my ultimate goal in life: to do whatever it is that I can so people have the freedom to express themselves and be exactly who it is that they want to be – whatever that is – knowing that that can also change.”

Brie Larson recently revealed she was doing this amid the election.

“So, what did I do? I put on my mask, placed my voter guide in my handy dandy VOTE purse and drove my ass down to my local polling location to request a ballot and VOTED,” she continued. “It may not be as easy as we want it to be, but even a complicated journey to having your vote counted is a journey worth embarking on.

Brie added a final note to fans, along with a close up on that cute purse.

“Vote in person if you haven’t yet voted, or drop your mail in ballot at your local ballot box (don’t mail it now as it may not get there on time to be counted!). Your voice matters. Your vote is valid. And I am wishing you all the strength in fighting any battles on your vote 2020 journey!”

Brie Larson Explains Why She Said No to 'Captain Marvel' Multiple Times

Brie Larson is opening up about her auditions for various movies, including the ones she didn’t get. In a new video, she also talks about the process of being cast as Captain Marvel!

The 30-year-old Oscar-winning actress explained in her new YouTube video that she originally said “no” to the role multiple times, but Marvel kept pursuing her.

When she was asked about her interest in the role, Brie was working on Kong: Skull Island and she said, “Oh, I can’t do that. I have too much anxiety. That’s too much for me. I don’t think I could handle that.”

A couple months later when they called again she said no again. “I’m too much of an introvert. That’s way too big of a thing for me,” she recalled of her thinking at the time. “It was beyond my comprehension.”

Brie says that when she finished filming Kong, she had a meeting with Marvel and that she was “very moved by what they were trying to achieve, with what they were talking about. It felt very progressive.”

“I was very surprised by the way that they were talking about feminism and the way they were handling it,” Brie added. “They were like all female writers. Female director. Going to have as many female voices in this as possible.”

Brie says that after she met with the creative team, she decided to sign on for the film.
