James Corden Gets Emotional on Late Late Show's 5th Anniversary, Re-Airs First Episode With Tom Hanks (Video)

James Corden is ringing in The Late Late Show‘s fifth anniversary while self-quarantined at home.

The 41-year-old host – whose show, like others, is shut down amid the current health crisis – shared an emotional tribute while social distancing on Monday (March 23).

“We had so many big plans for tonight, for the show we were going to give you,” James said. “When I think back to [our first episode], I’m filled with nerves and excitement and a feeling of when that curtain opened and I walked out for the first time, I didn’t know if I was going to fall flat on my face or if this was all going to be OK.”

CBS then re-ran his very first episode from 2015, featuring actor Tom Hanks (who is currently recovering from the coronavirus with his wife Rita Wilson).

“This is the strangest, strangest time,” James Corden added. “All we’ve ever wanted to do on our show is bring you some light in the dark in the corner of your room every night, and we’re going to do our best at some point to continue trying to do that.”

Tom Hanks Provides Uplifting Update After Coronavirus Diagnosis

Tom Hanks is providing an update on how he’s doing two weeks after he first experienced coronavirus symptoms.

The 63-year-old actor took to Twitter on Sunday night (March 22) to update fans as he’s under quarantine while battling the virus.

Hey, folks. Two weeks after out first symptoms and we feel better,” Tom wrote. “Sheltering in places work like this: You don’t give it to anyone – You don’t get it from anyone. Common sense, no? Going to take awhile, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some comforts…this, too, shall pass. We can figure this out. Hanx.”

Tom and wife Rita Wilson revealed just under two weeks ago that they had tested positive for the coronavirus. The two are currently quarantined in a rental home in Australia.

Tom Hanks' Sister Reveals How He's Doing Since Coronavirus Diagnosis

Tom Hanks‘ sister, Sandra Hanks Benoiton, gave an update on how her brother and his wife Rita Wilson are doing amid their COVID-19 diagnosis.

She said they are taking the “one-day-at-a-time approach.”

“I have communicated with my brother. He’s not great, but still okay. [Am I] shocked? No. He’s an actor, not a god [but] medical care in Australia is good,” Sandra said to Daily Mail.

Tom and Rita, who were diagnosed in Australia, just moved out of the hospital to a quarantine in a private home.

Meanwhile, Sandra actually lives in Italy, and she’s under quarantine while the country also fights Coronavirus.

“We’re okay here… staying home is fine with us, and this community is wonderful. I’m lucky to be here, the spirit of the people is amazing! The US and the UK are failing miserably, however,” she said.

Tom Hanks Is Losing In Rummy To Wife Rita Wilson During Quarantine After Being Released From The Hospital

Rita Wilson is showing off her skills in rummy during their quarantine, Tom Hanks shared with fans in a new Instagram post.

The 63-year-old actor is updating fans about how they’re both doing after being discharged from the hospital one week after their coronavirus diagnosis.

“Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch,” Tom wrote, sharing the good things about being out of the hospital.

However, the bad news is that “my wife @ritawilson has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points.”

“But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick. I travelled here with a typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx.”

If you missed it, Tom and Rita‘s son, Chet, also updated fans about how the couple is doing after their coronavirus diagnosis.

Chet Hanks Updates Fans on Parents Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson's Health Since Leaving the Hospital

Chet Hanks is (once again) the voice of reason we all need right now.

The 29-year-old actor took to Instagram on Monday (March 16) to let concerned fans know how his parents Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are doing after testing positive for coronavirus.

Fans will be happy to know that the couple has since left the hospital and are now under quarantine at a rental home.

“They’re out of the hospital,” Chet Hanks said. “They’re still self-quarantined obviously, but they’re feeling a lot better, so that’s a relief.”

“My prayers go out to you because a lot of people are suffering other than my parents right now,” he continued. “I think the most important thing is we just stay calm because panicking really isn’t necessary, and it’s just making things more difficult than they need to be. If you went to the grocery store and hoarded all the water and toilet paper for yourself I think you’re the problem.”

“You should think more all of others for once,” he added. “I think if we all just be a little less selfish and a little more selfless we’re gonna be completely fine.”
